What is creative problem solving?
Creative problem solving is a way of solving problems differently, for example through Edward de Bono's six thinking hats.
Be the first to find the root cause of the problem, attempts to fix a problem that you don't understand will usually fail. So, before you start looking for solutions, research what is actually going on. It is also important that the right question is asked. Every problem can be solved. But only if you ask the right questions will you arrive at really special solutions. Involve the different stakeholders in solving the problem. Once you have formulated a clear question, it is time to generate ideas. Fortunately, you are not alone. Most problems have various stakeholders. Embrace craziness, unusual (strange) ideas can not only be very effective, they can also provide brilliant new insights. Don't be afraid to propose crazy ideas. Often (part of) a solution to your problem already exists. Creativity is combining existing elements to create something new. Distance yourself from the problem. Even if you've come up with a brilliant idea to fix your problem, things can still go wrong. Implementation is difficult and executing an idea is often more complicated than expected.
